16 By the Light...of the Silvery Moon

Mark-good to hear you are back at it and very impressive times as you make your way back into training.
I also echo your thoughts on the blog...keeps me motivated, but also realistic.   I knew tonight we could not do 9 min. miles, so we started at a 10/mile pace.   Anything over 13 is what I call "really, really hard to do".  We really did a good job of staying right in there and very even.
I decided on Wed to take a day off with having to do my long run on Thursday evening (tonight).   I ran w/ Darren and we did this run at 7:20, knowing we would be running in the dark by the end.
We made it and had friend of ours (Rob Frank, Mike would know him) bike support for us.   This was 4 miles longer than Darren had ever run and he had worked all day and then we went to a training demonstration in Sigourney for our sons' SK football team.    It was great having Rob bike and give us our drink.   I'm sold on Gatorade.   I drank one and a half 16 ounce bottles the entire time.
We ran 2 miles in town and then 14 on the trail, basically to West Chester and back.   Time was our enemy, but we had a bright moon helping us see the trail.    Darren was having trouble keeping anything down by mile 12-13.  He had tried powerade.   He hit the wall at about mile 13 and we stayed together until mile 15-16 when he said he had to walk a little.  Must have not been long because he was only about 1 minute behind me at the end.
I am feeling it in my knees and my left heel.   ICE.   I soaked in the tub for 20 minutes, too.
Tonight I kinda felt like "why am I doing this to myself AGAIN?"...that's quickly answered when you think about what you just did...We stuck w/ around 10-10:15/mile and our final stats were:

16miles
2:43:29
10:13 pace

Not sure if I can keep even that up for 26.2, but I felt tonight like it was possible with more training.   Despite a little pain in the knees and heel...I felt great.

I'm taking at least 2 days off, unless I'm feeling good on Saturday.
Craig has left the state, but he will be back...oh, yes, he will be back...
