Any cooler and it would be cold

50º and a light breeze.
I decided when I woke up Saturday morning I had this feeling like a train had run me over, so I decided to see how I felt on Sunday. My left heel was really bothering me all day on Saturday. I think this first week of work in something other than tennis shoes took its toll on me.
This morning I took to the trail and felt OK on the first mile, but nothing great...about a 9:40 mile. I passed Leo Sieren who was walking toward me on the trail, big smile on his face "Beautiful morning, Craig, isn't it?!" He was obviously in heaven walking on this trail, I gave a "yep, Leo, great morning" as I passed by him. That comment must have really played on my mind because I just kept getting faster. The sun came out the 2nd half and I was at the 28:22 mark at the half way point. I figured it was about 3.1 (I decided for more accurate mapping I would go all the way to the road). So I shot for 56:00 on the way back. Felt good, kicked in the last mile as I hit the 47:06 mark at the last gravel road and my last mile was 7:48. When I mapped it at home, I realized it was little more than a 10K (6.25 total)... http://www.favoriterun.com/288459

Final Stats:
6.25 miles
54:54
8:47 pace

Stretch, stretch, stretch...there's an old commercial: "practice, practice, practice"
