Even when it's cool, it's still really hot.
I moved my runs up a day to put the long runs back on a Saturday. Mondays are often office days for me, and it's easier to get that first run of the week in on that day. So I skipped a cardio and ran 6 on Friday night and 10 tonight. Both nights were relatively cool, but still in that mid-70's range with high humidity. Friday was the coolest with temps dipping below 75 for the first time in a while.
I think the key to running the second half faster is to run the first half slower.
I find that these second half faster runs do make me reign it in a bit at the beginning and watch my pace. The ten mile run was a bit boring, and I did run the second half slower by 30-60 sec. I think a lot of that had to do with just not paying attention to what I was doing. I may try some new routes. I run one of three routes every time, but I run north probably 90% of the time. I know about where the miles and half-miles are, and even though I have the Garmin (which I love) it helps to have the visual cues as well.
All in all both runs felt okay. Not great, but not bad, either.

Happy Birthday, Big Brother!
