Last night I was in Ft. Lauderdale, and there were some wicked storms rolling through. I figured I'd just swap nights and head down to the fitness center for some cardio. Alas, there was no fitness center. So it turned into a rest/taco night!
Drove home (4 hours) today. My new shoes (and a HAT) were waiting for me when I got home. They're the same shoes I'm using now (different color), and it really seems to help. I stepped out to run with actual cushioning of my feet, and after the drive the occasional drizzle and cool temps felt great even if my legs were a bit sluggish. Yep, it was 76 with 93% humidity. Felt cool to me, anyway. I did the first mile and a half at 8:30-9:30 then started the 5 x 400m pick-ups. I tried to run the 400's at 7:00/mile or better. It was hard, but I did it. After that I still felt pretty good and kept my pace up around 8:00/mile for the last couple of miles. I still had some kick for the last half mile, too.
The cool temps really helped, I think.
Stats:
6.25 miles
49:50
7:59/mile
