Started just after sunrise. Weather.com said it was 72 and 95% humidity. It felt quite cool, but as the sun was up, it warmed pretty quickly. I ran south along A1A and was in a hurry. I could see right away that the surf was up, and I wanted to get back and into the water. I tried not to check my pace and ran what felt comfortable, yet moderate. I took water with me and needed it for sure. It felt good most of the way, but I slowed some in the 3rd quarter. That always seems to be the tough part for me. I figured I'd just slow down until I felt better. With about two miles to go I was able to pick it up again, and at the end I felt like I could have kept going. The gnats and no-see-ums were out this morning, but not as bad as at night. Still, I had dead bugs on my neck, dead bugs in my nose and dead bugs in my ears. Runner's World did say a good protein meal within 1/2 hour of running speeds recovery.
So I got home, ate and drank, then hit the waves for 2 hours. When I got home I slept for almost three hours. Then I hit the water again before dinner with friends. Rest tomorrow then the big push to 12 miles next week in IA!!!
