10 miles, Darren and the Truth

Great weather for July 5th.   60º to start and 70º finish with a light head wind on the way back from Harper.   Darren joined me this morning for the 10 mile run.   We started out with a goal of 9:30 or better and ran between 9:30 and 9:45 on the first 5 miles to put our half-way mark at 48:00 or 9:36/mile.   Picked it up on the way back and finished strong.   I really felt like he started to push me w/ about 2 miles left and during the last 1/2 mile I started to push him.   This is the good part about running with someone or running in races.  The mind game.  There were a few mind games during the 5K yesterday that kept me from getting U23 and they all delt with getting ahead of people I knew and the fear of fading after that.   I'm starting to see that it would help both of us if  I did that...my time would be faster and they would start to get faster, too.
I had a powerbar before I ran and drank G2 during the run, but only about 1/2 a bottle.
Final Stats:
10.04 miles (checked on favoriterun. com)
1:33:47
9:20/mile pace

Craig and Stripes Forever and out!

  1. Very nice! I'm resting today. Feel good except my right IT band is sore. May rest until tomorrow night and cut out an easy run if it still hurts tomorrow. We'll see. I ordered new shoes (the same ones I have now).

Hey, did you see on Mandy's FB that she's going to do a 1/2 in October! We should get her on here!!!

Looks like a good stretch for you.

My only pain is still in my heel (Plantar fasciitis). I seem to be resting it enough, but I'm concerned as I increase miles (12+). I need to research and see if there is anything besides losing 10-20lbs that will help.
